Students will work in a range of areas of photography that can include:
· location photography
· experimental imagery and
· documentary photography
As students work in each of these areas they will look at how meanings, ideas and intentions in photography can be communicated by experimenting with colour line, form, tone, texture, shape, pattern and composition
Students will also develop a range of skills that allows them to confidently produce a work by considering lighting, aperture, depth of field, shutter speed and viewpoints.
During the GCSE course students complete a range of projects based on themes such as An Introduction to Photography, Joiners, Destroy and Distort, Framing and Documentary Photography. These projects comprise 60% of the final GCSE grade.
At the end of the course, students complete an externally set task which comprises the remaining 40% of the GCSE grade. This involves students selecting a question from an examination paper and then producing their own personal response to the theme.
